As a young woman Aunt Jeanne was a fun, beautiful, caring person: even then a fashion diva. Aunt Jeanne Sweet 16

Slide 4:

Her best friends were her sisters and brother and I’ve been told that the girls fancied themselves singers like the Andrews Sisters though none of us ever got to hear that talent. ( We didn’t inherit it either!) For fun they went to the movies, went to amusement parks (Aunt Jeanne always loved the rides), went to the beach, went to dances, and of course-dated. Times were tough so Aunt Jeanne dropped out of school after 11 th grade and went to work in Canton, Ohio as a waitress. She got lonely so far away from her family and went back to Cleveland where she found a job waitressing at Kornman’s restaurant. Kornman’s Crew Aunt Jeanne, Kornman’s waitress

Slide 5:

It was at Kornman’s that she met Bill Weinberger who saw her potential and gave her the opportunity to become the catering manager for Summerset Inn in Cleveland.

Slide 6:

Time flew by and Shirley and Bobby moved to California. She hated that and really missed them. At the same time Bill Weinburger, Aunt Jeanne’s mentor, was asked to go to that new casino in Las Vegas: Caesar’s Palace. He asked a lot of his crew to go with him and Aunt Jeanne agreed to go but as a server, she didn’t feel ready to take on the job of catering manager at Caesar’s yet but she and grandmere would be that much closer to Shirley.

Slide 7:

Of course, she went on to become the catering director at Caesar’s Palace

Slide 8:

She continued her career at La Costa in 1978

And her many nieces and nephews…… She was more than an aunt. She was our best friend, our confidant, and our fairy godmother all rolled into one. She let us play with her clothes and make up, take baths in her “fancy” tub, took us to tea, and to see S anta. She bought us our party dresses and taught us to go on the “big” rides at amusement parks. She took us to Disneyland and into her heart. She wasn’t just our aunt, she was our friends Aunt Jeanne as well.

Slide 20:

Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free I’m following the path God has laid you see. I took His hand when I heard him call I turned my back and left it all. I could not stay another day To laugh, to love, to work, to play. Tasks left undone must stay that way I found that peace at the close of day. If my parting has left a void Then fill it with remembered joy. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss Oh yes, these things I too will miss. Be not burdened with times of sorrow I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow. My life’s been full, I savored much Good friends, good times, a loved one’s touch. Perhaps my time seemed all too brief Don’t lengthen it now with undue grief. Lift up your hearts and peace to thee God wanted me now; He set me free.
