IIa. GEOGRAPHIC OVERVIEW IIa.1. Area Profile The Municipality of Valencia is situated western part of Negros Oriental. North of the Municipality of Sibulan, east in the capital City of Dumaguete , and the south is shared border with the town of Bacong and Dauin and on its western boundary in the town of Sta. Catalina. It takes only 15 to 20 minutes ride to reach Dumaguete City and is nine kilometers away from the above mention City. Valencia is about 1,800 meter above sea level and has a land area of 148.30 square kilometer with a household population of 30,000 as of CY 2009. Valencia is a very progressive town with an estimated annual income of more or less Php 39,986,750.00 and with an IRA of 154,137,988.00 including Royalty tax from PNOC-EDC. The Municipality of Valencia has no high rise building and is the source of Geothermal Energy supplying electricity to the entire province of Negros, Panay Island and Cebu Province with two Vital Installation the PNOC-EDC and TRANSCO. There are 11 communication towers namely 4 Smart, 1 Globe, 3 PLDT, 1 ABS-CBN, 1 PT&T, 1 Liberty.

The Fire Station was established on 1985 when the municipality was issued one unit fire truck during the Leadership of former Mayor Honorable Saludario D. Sonjaco. The Fire Station was temporarily shade in the public market complex and was transferred permanently to its location after the final phase of construction funded by the BFP of the lot donated by the LGU about 400 square meter to the Bureau. On CY 2007 the LGU of Valencia purchased one (1) unit water Tanker to augment BFP Valencia’s firefighting capabilities through the effort of the incumbent mayor. Valencia is categorized as agricultural area were farming is mostly the means of livelihood.
