Why Pod-casting?:

Why Pod-casting? The creation of podcast lectures will allow teachers to have materials available for students’ use. This includes: Study materials for tests and quizzes. Review materials for absent students.

Preparation for Pod-Casting:

Preparation for Pod-Casting Ready your lecture script for voice recording into Garage Band. Locate Public Domain Images & save them in 1 folder for use in pod-cast. Open up Garage Band.

What we will learn… The Garage Band instruction includes the following: Creating a Podcast Episode Choosing correct vocal tracks Microphone skills Voice Recording Skills Adding photos to the Podcast track. (purple) Exporting the completed project. MP3,M4A (Formats)

GarageBand Handout 1:

GarageBand Handout 1 Step 1: Create New Podcast Episode Step 2: Select Vocal Track (Male or Female) Step 3: Turn on Microphone Monitor Step 4: Test Volume Step 5: Click into Vocal Track to Record Step 6: Select Red Record button Step 7: Start recording process. Step 8: Press Record Button to stop recording.

GarageBand Handout 2 Step 9: Add photos to Podcast Track (purple) Find photos from your hard drive and drag them to the podcast track. Or add to iPhoto library. (Public Domain: Google Search,Wikipedia) Make sure photos are aligned to the same subject in your audio recording. Step 10: Add in loops from loop browser. Jingles, Sound effects, etc. To add your own music use iTunes. Step 11: Audio Editing/Mixing Checking to see the overall order of your project is how you want.

Garageband Handout 3:

Garageband Handout 3 Step 12: Export Podcast to Hard Disc Go to Share menu and choose “Export Podcast to Disc.” First export the project with .mp3 encoding and higher quality. (To create an MP3/no images) Second, export the project with .aac encoding and higher quality; this will produce an .m4a (MPEG4-Audio) that will include your pictures.
