Overview:

Overview The Storyland and Rotary Playland boards joined forces in April of 1994 Playland donated $100,000 to ensure the survival of Storyland . Today both are jointly operated under the leadership of CEO/President Barry Falke in 2006 Since 2006, there have been many changes to Storyland and Playland including more than $1,000,000 in improvements.

Recruiting, Selecting, and Motivating the Board of Directors:

Recruiting , Selecting , and Motivating the Board of Directors Current Board Member for Storyland and Playland , (SL/PL), are in a generation gap. Most members do not currently have young children within the ages that the parks are geared toward. The target market being early elementary aged students. The Board also is required to consist of at least half of its members to be Rotary club members due to location within park domain.

Creating Diversity of Board Members :

Creating Diversity of Board Members SL/PL to encourage new board members not only to join their board of directors, but also the Rotary Park Organization as well. SL/PL should look to local business leaders that are currently in the same market and geared towards children, not only to be board members but to be proactive in their community and also spread their own business through cross promotion possibilities.

Local Marketing:

Local Marketing Exclusivity deals and cross-promotion with local business leaders could include coupons, monthly promotions giving to customers, sponsoring and branding for events. Possibly Playland could include a small extension of a partners store, like a craft or retail store.

Board Membership:

Board Membership With integration SL/PL will be successful. Only after securing strong working ties with local leaders then can we incorporate and utilize the knowledge and skill to help reshape the Board in a positive and marketable way to customers and current and future business partners.

Incentives doesn’t necessary have to be money Eliminate the cost of training of new employees Require a little bit more consideration due to the fact that everyone might have a different perceptive of motivation

Selection Of New Employee’s Qualification :

Selection Of New Employee’s Qualification Trained with background history of the facility and the skills that are required Can be given a personality and skills test to determine which type of environment they will work best in. Having a skilled worker would be to place an energetic person at the gate to greet customers as they walk-in and when they leave to answer any questions or concerns that they may have.

Ways to Improve on Perception Make Storyland and Playland more interactive to its target group Community Involvement

Storyland:

Storyland More hands on activities Add more mother goose stories Learning how to draw mother goose or drawing other characters to match the stories Have mother goose characters costumes so it create a theme throughout the park Have story memory games Have a booklet with a map

Playland :

Playland Adding an attraction every year More entertainment like carnival games Random characters walking around that is related to Storyland’s mother goose stories. upbeat music to get children excited have more concessions stands

Community Involvement:

Community Involvement Advertise Form partnerships with other children oriented businesses Feedbacks .It allows a business to improve. Contribute ideas and feedbacks
