Greaves of St. Paul :

Greaves of St. Paul In spite of he is the one who said “ rejoice: He had many afflictions Resembled our Lord When he said in Gethsemane : My soul is very sorrow” 2 Corinth.epistle is the main epistle where he uncovered his personality and his internal feelings In this epistle he was defending that he is not a true apostle. He was obliged to speak about himself, to the extent he called himself” Stupid” because he spoke on himself

“Burdened beyond measure, above strength, so that we despaired even of life” :

“Burdened beyond measure, above strength, so that we despaired even of life” “we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves but in God who raises the dead, 10who delivered us from so great a death, and does deliver us in whom we trust that He will still deliver us Used “ deliver” in three verbs ( Past, present, future) He was able to co Concur his sadness because he had past experience with the Lord He approached death more than once, and at least was stoned once. These experiences helped him in this epistle to say and ( Will deliver us) With many afflictions we must enter kingdom of God

But I determined this within myself, that I would not come again to you in sorrow. 2For if I make you sorrowful, then who is he who makes me glad but the one who is made sorrowful by me? For out of much affliction and anguish of heart I wrote to you, with many tears, not that you should be grieved, but that you might know the love which I have so abundantly for you.

We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; 9persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed– as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things. Rich!! It must have been much harder on St. Paul to experience imprisonment and poverty (as having nothing) more than any other. He had no lawyer to defend him before Ceasar “ Having nothing” includes also no one

Reluctant Boasting :

Reluctant Boasting “at least receive me as a fool, that I also may boast a little” 2 Cor. 11:16 He called himself “fool” because he had to speak/ boast He implied that who boasts is a fool 2 cor:21”To our shame I say that we were too weak for that! But in whatever anyone is bold--I speak foolishly--I am bold also”

Are they ministers of Christ?--I speak as a fool--I am more :

Are they ministers of Christ?--I speak as a fool--I am more MORE in What? We may have answered this question, because he had seenChrist, opened many churchs…etc However, in his eyes, he is more only because I TOILED MORE.

Slide 9:

in labors more abundant, in stripes above measure, in prisons more frequently, in deaths often. 24From the Jews five times I received forty stripes minus one. 25Three times I was beaten with rods; once I was stoned; three times I was shipwrecked; a night and a day I have been in the deep; 26in journeys often, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, in perils of my own countrymen, in perils of the Gentiles, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren; 27in weariness and toil, in sleeplessness often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness--

His honor :

His honor Not in any church he opened, neither in #of epistles But rather in every soul He cared for. “besides the other things, what comes upon me daily: my deep concern for all the churches” Who is weak, and I am not weak? Who is made to stumble, and I do not burn with indignation? If I must boast, I will boast in the things which concern my infirmity.

“my infirmity” :

“my infirmity” “was let down in a basket through a window in the wall, and escaped from his hands” He is boasting with his weakness.

The Vision of Paradise and His Afflictions :

The Vision of Paradise and His Afflictions When he had to speak oh the Lord’s apparition, he said “ I knew of a man” “in the body I do not know, or whether out of the body I do not know- God knows” 2 Cor. 12:2 2cor 12:4how he was caught up into Paradise and heard inexpressible words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter. Once he said all of that, he went to back to express his boasting with his infirmaties

The Thorn in the Flesh :

The Thorn in the Flesh The last experience was one of many, we are reminded with the great wind that faced his trip to Rome, the Captain wanted to kill the prisoners, yet, St. Paul saw in a vision that every one will be safe. In spite of his many miracles, he was not given to heal himself!! The Lord said to him "My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness." 2 cor. 12:9 He was ready to accept with no bargaining 10Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ's sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong. “you have compelled me” he was not intending to say his experiences but he was pushed for it

The amazing Rejoice :

The amazing Rejoice “Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place” The adulterer of Corinth that he had to excommunicate in Corinthians I he accepted him in Corinth. II “I had no rest in my spirit” until he heard of the stability of the church of Corinth.

Epistle of joy :

Epistle of joy In Philippi he was first faced with great troubles ended with imprisonment In the prison the Guard believes and the place became a place for God’s praise The word of God spread out and when he later sent his epistle, it was full of joy and comforting them that in spite of his captivity the preaching continues. He was not jealous of others preaching while he was confined. “Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice! Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand” Phil. 4:4.

How to rejoice in troubles? :

How to rejoice in troubles? Trust that God will save Trust that your prayers are heard Trust in the Lord’s peace Thank even while there is still problems

questions :

questions False teachers? He resembled them with devil workers, hypocrites. Their teachings can result in disruption of the preaching Angel of Satan? - God allowed the devil( originally an angel) to tempt him.

Questions :

Questions 1Cor. 5: “ Deliver this person( the adulterer) for the destruction of the flesh?? This is the way that St. Paul wants this person to be given specific spiritual practices and rulings in order to save his soul This rulling was not a confession because his problem was not known

Questions :

Questions Are there more denominations now than before? Same thing, 2Pet.2:2, is strict about this problem If you follow the church teaching you will not follow the wrong teaching The true follower will definitely know the right way( Abona knows of a non Christian couple who entered Christianity after he refuted Jehovah's witness)

Questions :

Questions Do we have punishments for our sins? The final goal is salvation, not bodily punishment The excommunication was done by St. Paul as an Arch Bishop The worldly grief can lead to dispair however, the spiritual grief leads to salvation

Questions? :

Questions? 1 cor9:19. What does he mean” For though I am free from all men, I have made myself a servant to all, that I might win the more; 20and to the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might win Jews; to those who are under the law, as under the law, that I might win those who are under the law; 21to those who are without law, as without law (not being without law toward God, but under law toward Christ), that I might win those who are without law; 22to the weak I became as weak, that I might win the weak. I have become all things to all men, that I might by all means save some. He was able to speak to every one’s language I.e uses greek philosophy to attract Greeks, Writes to the Jews about Moses.

Questions :

Questions How to discern between Grief and Joy? Discerning is the highest virtue, can be attained over a one’s person life. St. Paul spoke of different abilities to digest ; adult food versus baby food. The same problem can be solved to two different persons differently. The prayer to request wisdom is one of the most desired prayers.and keep asking. St. Makarious( Abou Makar) had a feeling to go to Alexandria to preach. He kept praying for three years to learn God’s will until he realized that it was not

Questions :

Questions To what extent as a servant I am allowed to hear secrets of my students? Avoid hearing confessions, it can hurt you and him. However, you need to ask about prayers details, bible, fasting..etc. All sacraments need repentance including matrimony. Matrimony, can it be achieved outside the church? - “He who gathers” we do not judge, yet, the facts are clear, God gathers and the priest performs the order.

Questions :

Questions The new testament abolishes the old? No, It came to complete and perfect The Sabbath was replaced by Sunday; God rested on the Sabbath, yet, Man spoiled the day of His rest, so our Lord replaced it with a new day ( Sunday). Sabbath is the day of the world, Sunday is the day of the lord

Questions :

Questions God of the old Testament looks different than the one of the new testament! In Joanna although it is an old T. story, yet, Our Lord changed His word so many times, is in this very merciful? Abraham dialogue with the Lord; Abraham was questioning and bargaining with God and our Lord allowed him. Is in it HE a very Kind Lord! In the new T., he warns of desolation of several cities if they do not repent The lord is the same in both, He is Feared in both, He is Kind in both and Merciful in both Why then He was taking revenge in the old T. e.g sodom? But, He did the same to His own people when they departed from His word But, our Judgment is delayed till the last day, But, Still Very fearful

Questions :

Questions Why God was very literal in the old T.? When He starts with a very difficult group of people, He has to give them rules. It is hard to teach SORRY to a vulgar person but you can tell him only hit him if he only hits you. God did not break the Sabbath rule by words but He did Mercy in that day to teach the spirit of the Sabbath.

Questions :

Questions Are we literal Now? The concept changes but the commands stay. The newly delivered woman is asked to rest, not to go to the church as kindness on her. St. Mary; “stayed home until the days of her purification” To ensure that the baby has to enter the church only when he receives baptism in order not believe that his/her mother can give salvation

Questions :

Questions Do not ask destiny questions, God is very fair, Do not concern yourself with His plan ” Let no one say when he is tempted, "I am tempted by God"; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone. 14But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. Two types of temptations: One is offered by God for edification and the other is ns sin

Questions :

Questions Reasons for Incarnation? Redemption: Redeems the first sin as well as the ones to follow To make us know His Father Man needed a perfect example to follow how to live on Earth Does God Performs evil? God can allow sin or evil to exist but He is not an evil Doer and not the Lord Of Evil You were bought with a price? The Lord bought us from WHO? I was judged with death, he paid my penality

Questions :

Questions Am I guaranteed to enter His kingdom? While He promised me with his kingdom, yet, if I stopped short than reaching it is my duty to comply with His plan. Demas had left me, he desired the world. “make your call and election sure” 2 Pet 1:10 It is with humility we keep praying for His Mercy to guide us into His Kingdom

Questions :

Questions Judas, was he pushed for his fate? No, The Lord selected him to be His Disciple, he distributed the 5 loafs. His foreknowledge does not prevent him from the betrayal. Judas is when you deny faith Protect me from the resemblance of Judas{ Gregorian Liturgy)

Questions :

Questions How to make the youth likes the Psalms? It is easier to start early. Encourage with; psalms can protect you. Devil understands the psalms , so even if you do not understand them, pray them to scare the devil. Start with fewer Psalms We are confronted with more distractive mind during the Psalms and Liturgy because the Devil fear them more.
