Slide 4:

Since the beginning of time, man has always wanted to be dominant; there was always that need to be the ALPHA MALE.

Slide 5:

In Greek mythology, we can see such example of Alpha Male status. Cronus, the father of Zeus, intended to swallow his son just like he did his other siblings, Poseidon, Hades, Hestia, Demeter and Hera. He swallowed his children so he could continue an absolute reign over the universe.

Slide 6:

However Rhea, Zeus’ mother, hid the infant in cave and switched him with a rock, so Cronus ate a rock instead of Zeus. When Zeus grew up, he forced Cronus to throw up his brothers and sisters. Zeus along with his siblings, Poseidon, Hades, Hestia, Demeter and Hera vanquished Cronus and the Titans, and Zeus imprisoned most of them in the underworld of Tartarus.

Slide 7:

We can also see power in history. Saddam Hussein was an evil dictator. He used his power to kill hundreds of people.

Take Barack Obama for example, if elected, he hopes to make his dreams a reality. The clip below is about Barack Obama campaigning for the 2008 Presidential Elections.

Slide 10:

In an episode of Grey’s Anatomy, the resident surgeons pest the current chief of surgery to prove to him that they themselves are capable of handling the daunting task of being the next chief. Chief of Surgery is like being the CEO of a company, you need to know everything and anything that’s going on in the hospital, and what he says, goes.

Jack I’m chief! Ralph No, I AM CHIEF!

Slide 13:

In the novel, The Lord of the Flies, there is a constant battle between Ralph and Jack for chief. Each contender represent complete opposites. You have Ralph, a sensible boy; and you have Jack. Jack is on the constant pursuit of pigs; he has a need of hunting. Both are in the running for chief because they think that they can do better than the other. Ralph wins the first round, but ultimately he is brought down by Jack.

Slide 16:

Man is consumed by power because power opens doors to success and happiness. With power, you can have whatever you want, do what you wish, everyone else is at your command.

Slide 17:

everyone dreams of being king, go ahead, reach for it. Just don’t step on any toes while you get there. Why you ask? Karma. -joanna’s philosophy
