How I Got My Name:

How I Got My Name My full name is Jasmine Vo Pham. Back then, my mother had a garden at her house, and loved her Jasmine flowers. Therefore she named me Jasmine. My middle name, “Vo”, is my mother’s last name. It is a tradition in our family that the children always receive the mother’s last name as their middle name. My last name is my father’s last name. That is just a regular American tradition.

Meaning and Origin The name Jasmine is of Old French and Persian origin, and the meaning of Jasmine is basically “jasmine”. It refers to the climbing plant with delicate, fragrant flowers. This name derives from Yasmin. The name Jasmine was made popular by the Disney character Princess Jasmine in the film “Aladdin” in 1990.

How My Family Came To America:

How My Family Came To America My family use to live in Vietnam, but escaped during the time of the war. All of my relatives took a small boat to America. It was very cramped. On the way, my mom got extremely ill, while docked in Indonesia. She was in a coma for 3 months. The Indonesians are very superstitious, so they asked the gods to heal my mom. Soon enough my mother woke up. Now they are safe in America.

My Family’s Health History:

My Family’s Health History Both my great-grandma, and grandpa on my mom’s side has type 1 diabetes. It runs through the family. Gratefully my mom didn’t inherit that trait from my grandpa, and she doesn’t have diabetes. But I could possibly still inherit that trait. My dad’s side doesn’t have any health issues.

Hobbies, Talents, and Sports My sport that I have taken up, is dance. I have been dancing for 10 years now, and have accomplished a lot within that time period. I have won a total of $3,400 since I have started. I have been to 5 different studios, and compete with many competitions.

Pets:

Pets I have one pet. His name is Theodore Bear Pham. Teddy for short. He is a teacup yorkie. As of December, he is 2 years old. That’s 14 in dog years.

Travel:

Travel My favorite trip was to Hawaii in 3 rd grade. We stayed in a 5 star hotel that had 9 pools, 5 waterslides, and an underwater elevator. During the trip we also went snorkeling in the middle of the ocean! We got to see many species of fish, a couple turtles, and an electric eel.

Why It Represents Me My teacher once said, “You have to believe in yourself. I think I’m awesome. Therefore, I am awesome.” This song shows that I am amazing, and that I am comfortable in my body.

Person That Makes a Positive Impact My mom has made the most positive impact on my life. She is the best thing that has ever happened to me. She is like the rock in my life. She is always there for me, and always loves me. No matter what.

Dear Mom,:

Dear Mom, I love you so much. If you go to the sun and back 10 times, that isn’t even enough love. You are the base of my life, and I wouldn’t be the same person without you. You sacrifice everything for me, and I can’t say that I do the same. You love me so much, and I appreciate it. I love you momma!

In the Future Working: Either as a graphic designer, or a professional dancer. Living: Somewhere near where I grew up. Family Life: Hopefully still close to my family, and visit them as often as I can.

One Thing The one thing that I would want to accomplish is to graduate from Julliard College. It is my one aspiration that I would want to accomplish. It is my life goal to become a professional dancer, and be able to support myself through that career.

The Media:

The Media I feel the media effects my clothing choices big time. I definitely chose casual clothing that other teenage girls would definitely chose. I only do this so I wouldn’t be sticking out like a sore thumb. I don’t think that the media effects me in a great way though. I don’t wear any make up, and I really don’t care what other people think about me.
