SUBSTANTIVE GRACE:

Open poem to first lady Michelle obama SUBSTANTIVE GRACE

Slide 2:

Imagine waking up at the mercy of the ocean. You would not only be disoriented, but paralyzed by life-threatening fear. Tossed here and there by the ebb and flow of the onrushing waves, it would be a struggle just to stay afloat. Psychologically, you were not prepared to endure such a dramatic course of events. Alarmed, your hope fades away. Then pain, despair and powerlessness envelop your being. Devastated, you cry out, “help me God, help me”. However, nobody seems to hear you. You once believed that your life’s work would fall victim to the oppositions sabotage. Exhausted and ready to give in, an ironic change begins to ensue: the unexpected comes to your rescue.

Slide 3:

The child who struggled with obesity that you once cared for has grown up stronger and more aware of healthy living. Raising others to be conscious of childhood obesity, healthy eating, and the relevance of physical exercise, they help to grow your message exponentially. Also, here and there mothers are busy breastfeeding their new born babies, and applying other core nutritional principles, you once shared with them, to the rest of their families. Moved, tears of joy roll down your cheeks because you have reached your goal: raising people’s awareness on those very facts from which most politicians shy away.

Slide 4:

Empowered, you forget the criticism, satire, sarcasm, and unprecedented disrespect. You endure silently and graciously as a U.S. First Lady. Relieved, you smile. Then you realize, your pertinacity is being rewarded especially in your own lifetime. That’s rare. That’s incredible. What a grace! Amazed, you whisper “thank you God, thank you” to yourself as you also realize that God’s grace has come to you in one of the most unexpected ways.

Slide 6:

Substantive grace First Lady, This is the way I empathize with your concerns, troubles, challenges, and the waves of disrespectful, and unfair personal attacks waged on you - a down to Earth First Lady, yet the most challenged in U.S history.
