Each has its distinct benefits and shortcomings.CPM vs. CPC: CPM vs. CPC CPM Cost-Per-Thousand (Per thousand views ) Great revenue generator. Largely risk free. Advertiser does all the creative work. Display an ad as often as possible until the advertiser's budget is exhausted. CPC Cost-Per-Click Involves risk from the advertiser's side in that they pay for every click on their ad. Forces them to make sure that the ad is relevant. We take responsibility of displaying the ad in appropriate places so that it will receive clicks. No clicks, no revenue.Average CPM Revenue: Average CPM Revenue I have highlighted the three categories that the Trouble Makers Gaming websites fall into. In terms of TMG, CPM is most favorable to ‘Entertainment’ first and ‘Online Gaming’ second. As you can see, CPM prices can be increased by gearing our hub page (tmgaming.com) more towards gaming and entertainment news, game reviews, etc.Analysis (Page 1 of 4): Analysis (Page 1 of 4) I believe, first and foremost, that gaming oriented websites should be contacted regarding open ad space on both www.tmgaming.com as well as www.forums.tmgaming.com . They should be provided with data regarding the average visitor demographic in a formal email format.Analysis (Page 2 of 4): Analysis (Page 2 of 4) Next, when potential advertisers are gathered, present them with a CPM pricing plan. Find out how many sets of one thousand views that they will pay for. Money is collected up front. I suggest, according to the chart featured in slide 4, the CPM price be set firmly at $3.00 until we have recurring advertisers. The feasible minimum is 10 sets of 1,000 views, providing $30 to TMG’s treasury. Deals should not be made that provide less revenue than that of this feasible minimum.Analysis (Page 3 of 4): Analysis (Page 3 of 4) Without knowing how many views the TMG websites collectively receive per month, I cannot accurately give an estimate of monthly revenue from CPM advertising. I strongly suggest that a TMG Marketing Google Analytics account be set up allowing constant monitoring of monthly page views. The forums, by nature, receive many more page views than our relatively desolate hub page. Ads on the forums should be the primary objective as soon as advertisers are gathered. However, during the time that we look for advertisers, we should restructure the News Team to be more effective and consistent, as providing news and reviews on www.tmgaming.com will be highly beneficial to not only the first impressions of potential advertisers but also to the amount of recurring page views we receive per month. A simple RSS aggregator should be placed on the website in the time between now and the restructure of the News Team, aggregating news from G4, Kotaku , Joystiq , or other miscellaneous sources for gaming news and reviews.
