It is a device that allows for the drainage of fluid from a body cavity. The fluid travels down the tubing from the body cavity to the container, the hemovac The tubing that is not normally seen and remains inside the cavity has many tiny holes which allows for the fluid to leave the cavity. Emptying a Hemovac : Emptying a Hemovac Grab your supplies that you will need and prepare your area. 1.Measuring cup 2. Blue pad & 3. Prepare area gloves Slide 4: Once you are all prepared and your gloves are on, keep one hand pressed down on the hemovac as you use the other hand to open the spout. 1. 2. Two ways to handle the plug : Two ways to handle the plug 1. Hold the plug as you pour 2. Use the plug holder as you pour But make sure not to touch: : But make sure not to touch: 1. The inside of the pouring spout 2. The inner side of the plug Once you open the spout, the hemovac will rise and no longer be flat as seen below.
