What Is Diabetes? Diabetes is a diesease where too much sugar is present in the bloodstream. All the food we eat is broken down into sugar and our cells use this sugar but in order for the sugar to go in cells a hormone called insulin must be present. There is three types of diabetes: Type 1 Diabetes: No amount of insulin is made. Type 2 Diabetes: There is not enough insulin or cells avoid the insulin. Gestational Diabetes: Not enough insulin is produced during pregnancy.
