Realizing the fact these countries tried to reduce emissions imposing bans on all countries India and other suffering countries came together and demanded their rights for development and the energy consumption Facts : Facts The Earth’s temperature has increased about one degree Fahrenheit in the last 100 years. 1 million species are facing extinction due to climate change 2005 was the hottest year since record keeping began One in ten of the worlds great rivers run dry every year (Yellow river, China) Slide 4: WHY ? Carbon credits : Carbon credits Global warming is a result of Green House Gas Emissions increased due to the abundant use of energy by developed countries. Realizing the fact these countries tried to reduce emissions imposing bans on all countries India and other suffering countries came together and demanded their rights for development and the energy consumption Slide 9: The Kyoto protocol gave rise to a compromise called as Clean Development Mechanism (CDM). The protocol fixed up a target for reduction in Green House Gases by 2012 by 5% , else without this measure at current trend it would increase by 29% The developed nations cannot stop their use of energy, developing nations cannot be denied their right of development ,but while doing so they may use energy inefficient ways and thus again going away from our target . Slide 10: Hence developing countries to get money from developed countries for energy efficient technologies, equipments and to continue their developments by earning funds from the developed countries for their excess use of energy This mechanism is called as CDM .CLEAN DEVELOPMENT MECHANISM . So any new industry , building , mall that use additional energy need to buy credits from those who earn in developing countries Clean Development Mechanism : Clean Development Mechanism C D M – Assisting developing countries achieving sustainable development by reducing emissions thr investments by developed countries achieving targets . The combustion air is preheated by hot flue. Flue Gas Cleaning Equipments Ventury Scrubber, Spray booth, Cyclone etc used to clean the gas before releasing to atmosphere. After Burner : Inefficient cupolas release CO (Carbon Monoxide) required to be burnt using after burner. Continuous Cupolas : Cooled by water. However same may be cooled by Cold air from Blower, heated air passing through flue and then to Blast. Insulated Covers for Induction Furnace. Scrap Preheating : Scrap Preheating Raw Material – Scrap, Pigs etc preheating using waste heat reduces global warming and energy consumption. Ladle Preheating Mould Drying – Efficient Mould Drying Core Drying – Efficient Core Drying DUST AND FUME REMOVAL The foundry work area moulding, core making, pouring, melting, knocking out cleaning. Once your project , facts and figures of CER is established then it is traded in an open market and money is earned . Today the Indian CER’s are traded at $ 10 /CER , this makes lot of money till your equipment runs for saving energy . Carbon Credit Estimation : Carbon Credit Estimation The complete sand reclamation means 95% of sand is totally saved (10,000x .95 = 9500) 9500 MT/annum sand not at all mined Corresponding trees and jungles not cut and firewood not burnt , cutting ,transportation of wood energy saved Corresponding overburden removal and refilling energy cost not incurred PROOF OF TREE CUTTING – LAND EXCAVATION REFILLING : PROOF OF TREE CUTTING – LAND EXCAVATION REFILLING Slide 27: Corresponding energy for Sand Removal, screening , washing , drying is not incurred Corresponding energy for sand transportation to destination is not incurred . For each and every stage requires energy to some extent The energy use in any form means production of Carbon Dioxide –Greenhouse gas RECLAMATION MEANS REDUCING Green House Gas Emission --- If sand was not reclaimed that much energy would have expended adding more GHG THERMAL SAND RECLAMATION IS UNIQUE CASE FOR CARBON CREDIT A perfect solution for earning money at the same time reducing the burden of additional investment : THERMAL SAND RECLAMATION IS UNIQUE CASE FOR CARBON CREDIT A perfect solution for earning money at the same time reducing the burden of additional investment Estimation for 10 Yrs ---- 10000 x 10 = 1,00,000 MT sand as basis Forest land –tree cutting : Forest land –tree cutting Carbon Dioxide Saving by not cutting the Jungle for 1,00,000 MT Sand Excavation of 1 acre land yields ---- 10,000 MT useful silica sand 10 Acres of land needed for 1 lac tons of sand The sand mines are located in Deep jungles of Western Ghat Forest-trees cut to burn – co2 : Forest-trees cut to burn – co2 Each acre of Land bears trees and bushes of approx 400 trees weighing each 10MT avg Thus total of 4000 MT of firewood is automatically burnt producing CO2 Huge destruction – firewood burning : Huge destruction – firewood burning 10Acres Land x 4000MT/Acre Fire Wood x 1000Kgs/MT x 2500 Kcal/Kg / 100000 Kcal/Ton CO2 = 10,00,000 Tons of CO2 Diesel burnt-fire wood transport : Diesel burnt-fire wood transport Transportation of Jungle Wood to nearest destination for 1,00,000 MT Sand 10 Acres x 4000 MT X 10 LitDiesel/Mt x 8700Kcal/Lit /1,00,000 Kcal/Ton CO2 = 34,800 Tons of Co2 Diesel burnt for removal overburden : Diesel burnt for removal overburden Removal of Overburden 3 Meter deep overburden above good quality sand per acre --- 12,000 MT 10Acre x 12000MT X 2 Lit/MT X 8700Kcal/Lit /100000Kcal/Ton Co2------ = 20,880 Tons of Co2 DIESEL BURNT FOR REFILLING : DIESEL BURNT FOR REFILLING Refilling of Pits again with same overburden --------------------------------------------- = 20,880 Tons of CO2 SILICA excavation – : SILICA excavation – Excavation of Silica sand from mine --- 1,00,000MT ------------------------------------ = 17500 Tons of CO2 SAND –WASH-SCREEN –PROCESS- ENERGY LOST : SAND –WASH-SCREEN –PROCESS- ENERGY LOST Sand Screening , washing ,Centrifuging and washing ----------------------------------= 87,000 Tons of CO2 1,00,000MT X 10 Lit /MT X 8700 Kcal/Lit / 100000Kcal/Tco2 DIESEL BURNT FOR TRANSPORT : DIESEL BURNT FOR TRANSPORT Transportation of Sand up to destination -------------------------------------------= 2,61,000 Tons of CO2 Calculation:- 1,00,000MT X 30 Lit/MT X 8700 Kcal/Lit /1,00,000Kcal/TonCO2 Cer –carbon credit : Cer –carbon credit GRAND TOTAL ------------------ = 14,94,100 Tons of CO2 The above C02 saved are nothing but CER ‘s can be gained in next 10 yrs So yearly Carbon Credit CER earned -------- 1,49,410 Tons of C02 The carbon credits are sold @ price of 10-20 usd /cer The earning thr Carbon credit per year @ 10 usd – USD 14,94,100/YR Or Rs 5,97,64,000 /YR You do not have the permission to view this presentation.
