REFRACTIVE MIOLS :
REFRACTIVE MIOLS The Refractive MIOLs have 2 or more circular zones with different diopter strength.
Each of these zones creates a focal point for objects in the near, intermediate or far distance. Principle
Disadvantages :
Disadvantages High glare sensitivity
Pupil size dependent IOL
DIFFRACTIVE MIOLS :
DIFFRACTIVE MIOLS The term diffraction ,from the Latin diffringere , “to break into pieces”, referring to light breaking up into different directions.
Principle :
Principle In which the incoming light is bent on two hot spots (near & long distance foci), by changing the width & height of these concentric steps at the surface of the lens.
The focal lens of these divided rays can also be adjusted to create two distinct hot spots according to each IOL design.
Advantage :
Advantage Pupil size independent IOL
