UNDER THE GUIDANDE OF: MR. B.D. RICHHARIYA (SR. MANAGER) BHEL JHANSI A SUMMER TRAINING PRESENTATION ON BHEL (JHANSI) BY: Pavan kumar kushwaha 0709020061 ee-2

Slide 2:

CONTENTS- BHEL Introduction Manufacture units of BHEL Product Profile Dry Type Transformer Power Transformer Traction Transformer ESP (Electrostatic Presepitator Rectifier Transformer)

Slide 3:

1st unit set up in Bhopal in August 1956. B.H.E.L. is the largest engineering and manufacturing enterprise in India in the energy/infrastructure sector with strong man force of 82000 people. B.H.E.L. manufacture over 180 products under thirty major product groups and caters to core sectors of the Indian Economy viz., Power Generation and Transmission, Industry, Transportation, Telecommunication, Renewable Energy, etc. BHARAT HEAVY ELECTRICALS LTD.

Slide 4:

Certification acquired by B.H.E.L are Systems- ISO 9001, Environmental Management Systems-ISO 14001 and Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems-OHSAS 18001 and has also adopted the concepts of Total Quality Management. B.H.E.L. has installed equipment for over 90,000 MW of power generation- for Utilities, Captive, and Industrial users. BHEL Jhansi is set up in 1974.

Product Profile

Slide 7:

DRY TYPE TRANSFORMER

Slide 8:

The major components of Dry Type transformers are: Core Winding Epoxy Resin Fiber Glass Mat Fiber Glass End Blocks and Cylinders Enclosure Marshalling Box Epoxy Bushings and Insulators Temperature Scanner and PT-100.

Slide 9:

1): Windings- Copper conductor is used for the winding of both LV & HV. After the winding wound coils are placed in separate steel mould. 2): Casting- Casting is done by utilizing the unique properties offered by pure liquid epoxy system. 3): Cutting and Dressing 4): Assembly of Transformer MANUFACTURING PROCESS OF DTT:

Slide 10:

CHARACTERITICS & FEATURES OF DTT: Self-extinguishing and fire retardent Maintenance free nature Immediate switch on Resistance against temperature fluctuation Space saving Lower losses and higher effienciency Moisture proof Increased in performance by forced cooling Nonpolluting

Slide 11:

APPLICATION OF DTT: Power Plats-thermal, hydro, nuclear plants Steel rolling Oil rings and refineries Chemical and Fertilizer plants Metro railways Underground Sub station and Milling

Slide 12:

POWER TRANSFORMERS

Slide 13:

The major components of power transformers are: Core Winding Tank & Fabricated fittings & Accessories Marshalling Box & RTCC panel Transformer Oil Radiators, fans, pumps or OFWF coolers OLTC ( On load tap changer) Bushings Buchholz relay

Slide 14:

TRACTION TRANSFORMERS

Slide 15:

All assemblies, requirement of material & components and process for manufacture for traction transformers is similar to power transformers. Traction transformer require special HV cable bushing termination to connect to overhead catenary. All the material & stages of manufacture of traction transformer are inspected by RDSO & require their approval.

Slide 16:

ESP TRANSFORMERS

Slide 17:

The major components of ESP transformers are, Core Winding Tank & Fabricated fittings & Accessories Thermometer Box Oil (in few cases Silicone Oil) Radiators (in few cases) Bushings Instruments – Pressure relief valve, Buchholz relay. Magnetic oil Gause, Diode stack, Resistor board, Shunt resistor, Glow tube

Slide 18:

INSTRUMENT TRANSFORMER

Slide 19:

The major components of Instrument Transformers are, Hollow porcelain Insulated Primary conductor (Cu tube, Al tube, PICC) Secondary winding on Ring Cores & ‘C’ cores (Synthetic Enamel Round Copper wires) Tank & Top chamber Assembly Primary Terminal & Secondary Epoxy board, Pressure Relief Device
