Key = Open Innovation platforms International Benchmark Structural approach needed Extend Living Lab approach to involve all stakeholders Ballon, Pierson & Delaere, 2005

Living Labs: user-centric innovation :

Living Labs: user-centric innovation What?Create a research environment to investigate large groups of users over a longer period within their natural ‘use context’ in interaction with innovations. Why?“because we are not getting close enough to the user”. too much single moments or short periods of user feedback or too often tested on a too limited scale or too much ‘un-natural’ lab-environments, not accounting for contextual factors, social factors, and factors that are difficult to grasp by means of single moment feedback moments… Research too often limited to the technology/application ‘an sich’, without taking the ‘global picture’ of the ‘value chain’ into account ….

Living Labs :

Living Labs Rationale? support the development and commercialisation of innovations as user-centric as possible. Fostering reliable and mature innovations by supporting: concept selection innovation development choice of the right business model the right pricing & communication the tailoring of your offer to its market potential
