Premium member Presentation Transcript WORLD ART : WORLD ART Dance Theater Mask-Making Cinema Photography and Printmaking DANCE : DANCE DANCE Dance is a living non-verbal, non-literal rhythmic visual means of expression. LATIN- AMERICAN DANCE : LATIN- AMERICAN DANCE Latin- American dances originated from Cuban music, a distinctively rhythmical music associated with Western Africa. The culture merge and led to the creation of new music and dances. TANGO : TANGO Early tango was known as tango criollo, or simply tango. Today, there are many tango dance styles, including Argentine Tango, Uruguayan Tango, Ballroom tango (American and International styles), Finnish tango, and vintage tangos. What many consider to be the authentic tango is that closest to that originally danced in Argentina and Uruguay, though other types of tango have developed into mature dances in their own right. SAMBA : SAMBA Samba is a lively, rhythmical dance of Brazilian origin in 2/4 time danced under the Samba music. However, there are three steps to every bar, making the Samba feel like a 3/4 timed dance. RUMBA : RUMBA Rumba is a family of percussive rhythms, song and dance that originated in Cuba as a combination of the musical traditions of Africans brought to Cuba as slaves and Spanish colonizers. The name derives from the Cuban Spanish word rumbo which means "party" or "spree". BALLET : BALLET Ballet is a formalized kind of performance dance, which originated in the Italian Renaissance courts of the 15th century, and which was further developed in France, England, and Russia as a concert dance form. The early portions preceded the invention of the proscenium stage and were presented in large chambers with most of the audience seated on tiers or galleries on three sides of the dancing floor. THE NUTCRAKER : THE NUTCRAKER SLEEPING BEAUTY : SLEEPING BEAUTY THEATER : THEATER The word theatre means "place for seeing". The art of staging a play or drama. Refers also to the buildi9ng designed to place or dramatic performance.
