Louis XIV invents gambling... King Louis of France invents a revolutionary new type of entertainment. It is called gambling. Here is how it works all of his nobles place bets on where the wheel is going to land. Then they give how much money they want to bet. If the wheel lands on the space they selected they earn twice as much money as they betted if the don’t guess the right place then they lose all of the money that they betted. Here, the entire French nobility was expected to take residence and to participate in elaborate ceremonies, festivals and dinners. entertainment We bring thee all of the news - Since 1609 Louis' motivation was not based solely on his desire to have a good time but was a means of simultaneously controlling the nobility, reducing their power and watching for any potential rivals.
Prior to the construction of Versailles, Louis kept an eye on the aristocracy by requiring that they accompany him wherever he may go. When the king traveled, he did so at the head of a great lumbering retinue of hundreds of lesser nobility - all of whom had to be fed and entertained at each stop.

Could this be the end of rice import from china. today the population of England and Wales grows steadily. It was about 4 million in 1600 and it grew to about 5 1/2 million by today. During the 17th century England became steadily richer. Trade and commerce grew and grew. trade is an increasingly important part of the our economy. Meanwhile industries such as glass, brick making, iron and coal mining expand rapidly.
