SIP Processes : 

SIP Processes Different lengths of time allowed depending on school category which includes performance management and preparation time • 5.5 days category 1 and 2 • 7.5 days category 3a • 11.5 days category 3b • 15.5 days category 4 Will continue to support senior appointments and Ofsted visits in addition to above Any work beyond agreed days will be chargeable

School Attendance Targets : 

School Attendance Targets New regulations require the governing body of every maintained primary and secondary school to set by 31 December each year: A target for overall absence for the following academic year (currently being done) More stringent conditions for schools with: • High absence levels • High absence levels for particular groups • High levels of persistent absence

Early Years (EYFSP) Targets : 

Early Years (EYFSP) Targets LA is setting targets for 2009 to: Increase the achievement for all children at age 5 (EYFSP) Narrowing the achievement gap between the lowest achieving 20% of children and the median score for all children SIPs will discuss Foundation Stage Profile results with schools as well as other Key Stages

Target Setting KS1 and KS2 : 

Target Setting KS1 and KS2 2008 Includes vulnerable groups / minority ethnic / SEN / LAC more specifically at KS1 and KS2 to accelerate progress Includes English and Maths together at KS2 Will use optional SATs data as well as FFT to provide more relevant targets 2009 As above plus: Percentage of pupils making 2 levels of progress in English Percentage of pupils making 2 levels of progress in Maths

Target Setting KS1 and KS2 (Cont) Schools have to justify why year 6 targets are lower than previous year 6 attainment Ofsted have to grade rigour of target setting SIPs have to evaluate rigour of target setting with the school RAISE online has potential to help set realistic target

Ofsted Characteristics : 

Ofsted Characteristics Criteria to achieve a good grading. Realistic and challenging targets, including specialist school and other non-statutory targets are grounded in analysis of the pupils’ attainment and progress and are being used effectively to improve them in key areas and to reduce gaps in attainment between different groups of pupils.
