HISTORY : 

HISTORY CASAS began in 1980 as a partnership of the California Department of Education and as a consortium of local adult education agencies. Today, CASAS is used nationwide and has maintained a field-based consortium since 1985. CASAS assessments are used in all U.S. states, as well as Singapore, and the Pacific Rim. Lastly, CASAS provides research, program evaluation, and data services.

Internal reliability has been high.   Validity: High. It tests what they are intended to test.

EVALUATION OF TEST : 

EVALUATION OF TEST Administration: Proctors, teachers, and techinicians receive training before administering the tests.   Interpretation of Scoring: Scoring is automated and given as soon as the student completes the test. The results are interpreted by teacher/technician and used to place a student in the proper class or assess student growth.  Limitations: Not all schools have the proper technology to be able to administer tests. Outreach sites have to have computers taken to them. Time consuming to track students. Does not take into account older students that are not technological y inclined.   Age: 18 and over   Grade: Adult Education   Other:   Strengths: Fast, efficient, immediate results.
