MERRY CHRISTMAS “FELIZ NAVIDAD”

Slide 2: 

HISTORY Mary and Joseph had a baby called Jesus. A big start appears in the sky to show where Jesus was born.

Slide 3: 

Three kings went from their homes following the star to give presents to Jesus.

Slide 4: 

An angel announced to the shepherds the Jesus birth

Slide 5: 

In Spain children make performances in the school.

Slide 8: 

Most of people make a “belen” and put it in their house. And they also have a Christmas tree.

Slide 13: 

During the Christmas holiday children in Spain write their letters to the three Wise Men, telling them what presents they would like.

Slide 14: 

On the 25th of December there is a big lunch with all the family in Spain.

Slide 15: 

There is no special food like in England, you eat meat, or fish or soup. But there are special sweets. For example, these delicious “turrones” or these sweets called “polvorones”

The 28th of December is “El Dia de los Inocentes”. This day you can make do jokes to people.

Slide 17: 

Some people at night have dinner with their family, and with some friends. At 11.30 some people go to the main square of their town to eat the twelve grapes.

ON THE 31ST OF DECEMBER PEOPLE IN SPAIN DO SOME OF THE FOLLOWING FOR GOOD LUCK NEXT YEAR: Put a suitcase at the main door of your house to travel a lot along the next year. Eat the 12 grapes before the last peel to have luck. They have to eat them standing up only with the right leg to entry in the new year with a good foot. After the 12 grapes, they have to drink a glass of cava with something made of gold in it to have money the new year.

The 5th of January there is a procession. The Three Kings with their assistants go through the street giving sweets

When the procession is finished, you can go and talk to the three kings to remind them what presents you would like for Christmas.

You should leave some milk and biscuits for the Three kings and a bucket with water for their camels
