Edit Comment Close Premium member Presentation Transcript 5 Stages of Writing : 5 Stages of Writing Writing Process : Writing Process Prewriting Drafting Revising Editing Publishing Prewriting : Prewriting Prewriting : Prewriting Do not try to write a rough draft in this stage Give yourself time to think of ideas before you begin writing Thinking Maps are a great way to organize your thoughts Thinking Maps : Thinking Maps Cats litterbox smaller Dogs loyal Outside walks playful pet Drafting : Drafting Hand write your draft Skip a line on your paper to leave room for corrections Plan where to put research references within the paper Revising : Revising Move the text around Read your paper out loud Get feedback from peers Add dialogue Find words that create a sharp mental picture. (imagery) Rewrite the lead to “hook” the reader Revising : Revising Strengthen arguments Add details and examples Write a “Wow!” clincher Listen for the writer’s voice in the piece Combine sentences to make them sound better Check for good variety in sentence structure Revising- sentence structure : Revising- sentence structure Try to make writing flow smoothly by combining simple sentences to form complex sentences Ex: The dog was asleep.
