The complex system of sewer pipes takes the wastewater to a wastewater treatment plant (WWTP). In the WWTP the waste solids are removed from the water. The water is filtered and cleaned until it is safe to be returned to the environment. Wells are drilled into the earth to pump water from underground aquifers into Water Treatment Facilities. The Water Circle describes how the water that we use every day is constantly recycled by man and by nature. Water is purified in the Water Treatment Facility to a level that makes it safe to drink.
