Purpose of Initiative : 

Purpose of Initiative Increase Junior numbers in our sport Bring Parents into the sport Target more officials Create a more social environment New parents, new ideas Pathway into J-Cycle Program

What events can these new members compete in? : 

What events can these new members compete in? Kids at this age & new to the sport need to be skilled in a fun environment Involve Parents in running activities Activities to develop Bike Skills Modified race events, time trials Club Race Events Interclub Race events

What is the Cost : 

What is the Cost A low, low $5.00 This is not a financial strategy It is numbers driven Benefits will flow from depth in Juniors J-Cycle is an optional extra for $40.00

What is the Objective behind this Junior Membership Development Initiative : 

What is the Objective behind this Junior Membership Development Initiative Increase Junior member numbers Sign-Up Kids for J-Cycle Program Prepare new members for racing Encourage new members to upgrade their licenses to race in open carnivals Bring more Mums & Dads into the sport & encourage their involvement

J-Cycle Program : 

J-Cycle Program Clubs to co-ordinate JDO’s to encourage riders to sign up for J-Cycle program J-Cycle is a program developed in co- operation between Cycling Australia & Australia Sports Commission Upon satisfactory completion of J-Cycle program, member is awarded a full racing license at no additional cost and becomes a “J-Cycle Superstar” Member

Benefit of J-Cycle Program : 

Benefit of J-Cycle Program A Sports Commission Accredited Program Provides basic skill training for new athletes under a structured program Provides parents with peace of mind their children are receiving sound basic advice at an introductory level to cycling

Summary of the Optional J-Cycle Course Cost is a low $40.00 What do J-Cycle riders get for their money 8 Fabulous skill sessions Session 1 – Bike Basics Session 2 – Balancing & Breaking Session 3 – Corners & Turning Session 4 – Using your gears Session 5 – Riding with Others Session 6 – Out & About Session 7 – Out & About – Hills Session 8 – Out & About Challenge Award PLUS A tote bag with bidon, promotional material and in NSW a family ticket to a nominated major track carnival Full racing license after satisfactory completion of program A “J-Cycle Superstar” Certificate

What do Clubs get back from J-Cycle Program : 

What do Clubs get back from J-Cycle Program Recognition from parents and members JDO’s receive a percentage of the J-Cycle fee towards coaching expenses Of the $40 J–Cycle program fee: Club gets $ 8 JDO $ 8 = $40 Total CNSW $ 8 CA $16

What do members get for their $5 : 

What do members get for their $5 A CA license (with a big red “C” on it in year one! An “animated” license is proposed for roll out in future years A welcome pack with freebie offers A family pass to the next major track open Free “race entry” into their first Open road race event

Are riders covered by CA Insurance? : 

Are riders covered by CA Insurance? Absolutely Same insurance benefits as full financial members Risks are deemed low

What types of bikes can be used? : 

What types of bikes can be used? All types of bikes providing they comply with the law

What needs to be done at Club level? : 

What needs to be done at Club level? Advertise the new $5 Junior Membership Development Initiative on their website, in newsletters Licenses can only be issued to non-members of Cycling Australia as an incentive to join an affiliated club Complete a standard 2005 membership affiliation form, highlighting Affiliation as Junior Development License Provide a receipt to the rider as per normal procedure Cost is $5 Junior Development License is available to Junior U9, U11 & U13 riders in 2005 Riders issued with a Junior Development license can compete in local club/interclub events, but NOT in open race events. Membership to encompass skills training and modified competitive activities at a club/interclub level only. Any general competition outside their own club environment will require an upgrade to the existing competitive license for this age group

(continued) Membership cover includes a Junior Cycling License card to be issued by Cycling Australia, includes all benefits of the CA insurance package, including public liability and limited personal accident cover, inclusive of ambulance cover. New members able to participate on racing and non-racing bikes provided the bikes comply with the law. Junior membership affiliation forms and payments are to be forwarded to Rebecca Ellis at Cycling NSW for processing. Cycling Australia will issue a Junior Development License and post to the member NSW Family Membership Rebate package not available to riders signed up under this program Reminder: Any Junior rider U9, U11, U13 who is currently or has previously held a standard Cycling Australia license is NOT eligible for this offer
