Premium member Presentation Transcript Ministry of Health Promotion / University of Toronto Access to High Performance Initiatives : Ministry of Health Promotion / University of Toronto Access to High Performance Initiatives PSO Information Sessions AGENDA : AGENDA Welcome and Introductions Background Overview of Agreement with University of Toronto Facility Overview Process for Access Questions BACKGROUND – QUEST FOR GOLD : BACKGROUND – QUEST FOR GOLD $10M annual budget Quest for Gold Program funding is distributed through three components: Ontario Athlete Assistance Program (OAAP) - 70% of funding Enhanced Coaching Enhanced Training and Competitive Opportunities Final two components receive 30% of the funding UNIVERSITY OF TORONTO – CAPITAL INVESTMENT : UNIVERSITY OF TORONTO – CAPITAL INVESTMENT The University of Toronto (UofT) has made a commitment to high performance sport UofT is upgrading their existing sport facilities, and constructing a Centre for High Performance Sport that will be the first of its kind in Ontario This includes four complementary components: Varsity Stadium and dome, completed in June, 2007; The Centre for High Performance Sport; The Varsity Entrance building; and Arena renovations – Varsity Centre (completed) New capital investments of $100M will compliment existing athletic facilities (e.g. Athletic and Physical Education Centre) MHP – U of T AGREEMENT : MHP – U of T AGREEMENT Benefits to Provincial Sport Organizations (PSO/MSOs) are categorized in three distinct components within Agreement: High Performance (HP) access to Facilities and Equipment Access to the Athletic and Physical Education Centre Training Camps and Ongoing Training Team Ontario Training Camp Equipment Purchase and Renewal MHP – U of T AGREEMENT : MHP – U of T AGREEMENT 2. Sport Medicine Services for Ontario HP Athletes Priority Access to Sport Medicine Services Clinical Therapy Services Field & Clinical Care Health Screening & Monitoring Anti-Doping Seminars 3. Education and Sport Science Services.
