Proxemics experiments Observe how close people get to each other at Happy Hour. Does the space between people change as the afternoon continues? When you notice people standing within the intimate range (closer than 18 inches/arm’s length) try to find out why. Stand 12 inches from a stranger in a public space where there is lots of room. How do they react? Go to an empty movie theater, restaurant, classroom, etc. and sit RIGHT next to a stranger. How do they react? Get into an elevator with your back to the door and face toward the passengers. How do they react?
