Entering the Classroom When students enter the classroom, they should: Enter quietly Place homework in the Homework tray and notes in the Note to Teacher tray(both located near entrance) Pencils should be sharpened if necessary (Cont.)

Entering the Classroom(cont.) : 

Entering the Classroom(cont.) Students should then immediately be seated with pencils, books, and notebook getting started on the bell ringer problems.

Use of Calendar/Agenda : 

Use of Calendar/Agenda Each week, the lessons and topics for the week will be posted on the far corner of the board so students know what to expect. Ex. Sept. 7-11 Mon. Ch. 2 Fractions Intro. Exercise 4 pg. 22(class work) Hw. Problems 1-20 pg. 33

Assigning Textbooks : 

Assigning Textbooks Textbooks will be assigned to each student at the beginning of the year. The students are responsible for bringing their textbook to class during each class meeting.

Housekeeping Chores : 

Housekeeping Chores Each day, students will have bell ringer work. This will give me a chance to take care of beginning housekeeping chores: Read notes Check who’s turned in homework Prepare end of class housekeeping

How to Head Papers : 

How to Head Papers All papers submitted to me should contain the following heading: Name, date, subject, Class Period and Assignment Example: Sheila Holmes July 14, 2010 Pre Algebra 4th pd. Exercise 3 pg. 42

Signals to get Attention : 

Signals to get Attention Students who want to be recognized should signal by raising their hand and waiting to be called upon. This rule goes during class instruction and during class and independent work. No student is allowed to talk out in class without being recognized.

Transition times from one class/activity to next : 

Transition times from one class/activity to next For high school students, changing classes is the routine. In my class, the procedures(rules) will remain constant for each class period.

Other Classroom Issues Throwing Away Trash Restroom Break Feeling Sick Throwing Away trash Students in my room will be required to hold all trash until the end of the class period. This will avoid interruptions during class time.

Other Classroom Issues(cont.) Throwing Away Trash Restroom Break Feeling Sick Restroom Breaks High school students change classes and have enough time in between classes to stop by the restroom. When class starts, no student will be allowed outside of the classroom. Students with restroom emergencies only will be granted a restroom pass.

Other Classroom Issues(cont.) Throwing Away TrashRestroom BreakFeeling Sick Feeling Sick Students who fall ill or do not feel well enough to perform in class will be granted a pass to see the school nurse. In case of an illness, makeup work will be allowed.

Dismissal : 

Dismissal Students will be prepared to dismiss 5 to 10 minutes before the end of class to allow time for end of class housekeeping which may contain the following: Returning papers Rewards or privileges school announcements(non class related) Next day instructions
