Reflective and Rotational Symmetry :

Reflective and Rotational Symmetry By Nicki Frost, Brandon Jeffries, and Emily Robison

Reflective Symmetry :

Reflective Symmetry A property of geometry in which a line can be drawn through an object and one side is the mirror image of the other.

Rotational Symmetry :

Rotational Symmetry A property of geometry in which an object can be revolved around an axis a given number of degrees while still holding the original shape. In this example, you can rotate the image 90° and the object will still hold the original shape.

Natural Rotational Symmetry :

Natural Rotational Symmetry This flower is a natural example of rotational symmetry. As you can see, three equilateral triangles are formed by the petals of this flower. Each can be rotated120° and the position will be the same each rotation.

Natural Reflective Symmetry :

Natural Reflective Symmetry Reflective symmetry can also be found in nature in this flower. Shown here is the hexagon shape of the petals, where the blue line represents the axes of reflection.
