Art Perchance – August 19, 2010 – Target Park at the MIA – 5-6 VIP Reception 6-9 Event Artful Games – inspired by the collection : Artful Games – inspired by the collection Help make this annual benefit our most successful and mirthful ever, while playing an active role in supporting the MIA’s education and outreach programs. Let the Games Begin ! Art Perchance : Art Perchance A projected audience of 3,000 attendees will revel in free, art-themed games outside on Target Park’s “midway” – including “Bowling for Brancusi”, “Hoopla Doryphorus” and “Wheel of Dada.” Inside the MIA, more than 75 original artworks – donated by local artists and galleries – will be on display and available to win at hourly drawings How your support helps! : How your support helps! The Friends of the MIA have a proud legacy of supporting the education and outreach programs of the museum Artful Stories : Artful Stories Friends Children’s Fund developed and delivered program designed to engage preschoolers with art, music and fun at the MIA – over 1700 children delighted since Artful Stories debut Children’s Fund brings 2nd and 3rd Graders to MIA : Children’s Fund brings 2nd and 3rd Graders to MIA The Children’s Fund supports the Visual Thinking Strategies tours for 2nd and 3rd graders in the Minneapolis Public Schools – tours designed to improve their critical thinking skills - over 3000 kids each year experience the collection Friends Transportation Fund : Friends Transportation Fund The Friends Transportation Fund provides the costs of transportation to the MIA for Free tours for kids who otherwise would be unable to come – 56 buses awarded in 2009-2010 – over 2500 kids! Ofrenda Project : Ofrenda Project Outreach to the community supported by the Friends – a partnership with the MIA and El Colegio magnet school – 60000 hits on the website from all over the world appreciate the creativity of high schoolers Friends Lecture Series : Friends Lecture Series Free and Open to the Public – presented every 2nd Thursday of the Month in the Pillsbury auditorium – exciting, educational and always entertaining speakers from around the globe Friends – Major Sponsor of the Louvre : Friends – Major Sponsor of the Louvre Almost 100,000 marveled at superb art objects from France’s great museum and the Friend’s were proud to be a major sponsor ‘Best Fundraising Project in the Twin Cities’ : ‘Best Fundraising Project in the Twin Cities’ In 2009, Art Perchance was honored by Mpls.St.Paul Magazine as the “Best Fundraising Project in the Twin Cities.” By building upon this successful model via the MIA’s Third Thursday program, this year’s expanded Art Perchance is projected to attract an audience of more than 3,000 people.
