Habitat destruction, poaching, fishing, illegal hunting and capture of society threatened and endangered species for export or trade in Brazil pet creates deep concern at the loss of biodiversity... However, you should always appeal to peoples pockets, if you appeal to their better nature would not work, and the new United Nations report warns that the global loss of biodiversity threatens economies. http://www.globalwarming360.net/loss-of-biodiversity.html Saving..... RUBY HOUSE AGAINST THE MOTION Slide 2: present FUTURE Slide 3: WHAT IS BIO DIVERSITY? Biodiversity is the variety and differences among living organisms from all sources, including terrestrial, marine, and other aquatic ecosystems and the ecological complexes of which they are a part. This includes genetic diversity within and between species and of ecosystems. Slide 4: CHANGES IN BIO DIVERSITY OVER YEARS This figure is called the Living Planet Index; it was compiled by the World Wildlife Fund in 2005, and is based on data for several groups of marine, freshwater, and terrestrial animal species. As you can see, abundance of all has declined since 1970 levels Slide 5: THREATS TO BIO DIVERSITY?? DEFORESTATION RAPID KILLING OF ANIMALS GLOBAL WARMING AND MAN Slide 6: RAPID CUTTING OF FORESTS Slide 7: Deforestation is the clearance of naturally occurring forests by the processes of logging and/or burning of trees in a forested area. There are several reasons deforestation occurs: trees or derived charcoal can be sold as a commodity and used by humans, while cleared land is used as pasture, plantations of commodities and human settlement. The removal of trees without sufficient reforestation has resulted in damage to habitat, biodiversity loss and aridity Slide 8: RUTHLESS CUTTING OF FORESTS FOR GROWING POPULATION Slide 9: What do you understand From it ?????? Slide 10: Cruelty to Animals Animal cruelty is a worldwide problem rapidly growing in today's society. Animals are being beaten and starved everyday and millions of helpless animals die each year because of heartless owners. Slide 11: ELEPHANTS and RHINOCEROS are widely killed all over the world for their tusks an skin They are on the edge of becoming extinct Slide 12: A few extinct animals DINASAURS MAMMOTH DODOS Animals in the race of becoming extinct ETC. PANDAS RHINOCEROS POLAR BEAR Slide 13: Loss of bio diversity has Resulted in Global Warming PICTURE OF GLACIERS 50 YEARS AGO PRESENT CONDITIONS OF GLACIERS Slide 14: HOTSPOTS OF BIO DIVERSITY 1 Rainforests are experiencing biodiversity loss at rates greater than most other habitat types. The primary cause of rainforest loss is deforestation for timber, cattle grazing, and farming 2 Wetlands are another habitat being lost at great pace. Wetlands are very important to humans for a number of reasons, including storm mitigation and water filtration Slide 15: 3 Coral reefs are extremely sensitive to changes in ocean temperature, and “coral bleaching” results when temperatures get too high; this phenomena will eventually kill corals if the temperature does not return to suitable levels SPECIES 4 Increased human use and pollution of the river degraded its habitat to the extent that it has been declared extinct The Golden Toad was a small, brightly colored toad .It has been extinct since 1989 Polar bears are one of the most well-known victims of climate change, because of global warming, they could be extinct by the end of this century. Slide 16: DARKEST SIDE OF LOSS OF BIO DIVERSITY Drowning of Earth because of melting Of glaciers THIS DAY IS NOT FAR Slide 17: M a n's f u t u re O n Ea rth People breathing with oxygen cylinders in future Wow! I Think it’s a tree They have never seen a tree in their whole life. Slide 18: THE END -----THANK YOU RUBY HOUSE You do not have the permission to view this presentation.
