Taira Gainer My DCT Experience

Slide 3:

Job Site My job site is a unique and great place to work. Sally Yeager’s laid back attitude clearly comes through in the atmosphere at 301 Coffee Company. People will come in and linger over a cup of coffee or latte. Part of my job through DCT was helping Sally promote her business on the Internet. The first thing I did was set her up with a Facebook page. Click here to view. The next thing I did to help Sally get connected to the world wide web was design a website for her. You can view the menu, weather in Elkins, and a lot more by clicking on her URL address - http://sites.google.com/site/coffee301company/ I also designed signs to announce that JB Tenney and Seth Maynard were performing live at 301 Coffee Company. To help promote DCT and the 301 Coffee Company, I wrote a newspaper article about how a business can become a partner with DCT. Some of my other duties at 301 Coffee Company is being a waitress, helping with dishes, checking people out, and just pitching in to help in any capacity when it is busy.

Although Chelsea, Julia, and I did not win the National’s, it was great fun and a wonderful new experience. I had never been to Lousiville, KY before, and it was a blast. Wonderful Experience

Slide 15:

Attending the National DECA Convention was my favorite experience while being a part of DCT. Mrs. Heinke, Stephanie, Chelsea, Julia, and I traveled to Louisville by charter bus. We spent five days in Louisville and the experience was great. We went to the Hard Rock Café for lunch, attended a Lady Antebellum concert, and visited the Louisville Slugger Museum. My favorite part about being in Louisville was meeting new people. Those people have became really good friends of mine and we talk daily. Getting away from Elkins for those five days was just what I needed. Another favorite experience is working at my job site. The opportunity to see how a business is run has been very important to me. I realize that if I ever want to go into business for myself, it takes a lot of hard work. By working through DCT at 301 Coffee Company, it has opened a door for me to work for them this summer. DCT provides the opportunity to do many things. Favorite Experiences
