Remainder of the urethra, it changes to a stratified or pseudostratified columnar epithelium with patches of stratified squamous epithelium, particularly in penile urethra. At terminal dilation of penile urethra, in the fossa navicularis, epithelium is St. Sq. in type. Urethra : Urethra Female Urethra. Much shorter than in male, being only 3 to 4 cm long. Just distal to bladder is transitional epith. Mucosa lies in longitudinal folds and has a lining epithelium that is stratified squamous in type, with patches of pseudostratified or stratified col. epithelium Slide 16: Digestive system The Lips : The Lips Externally is a covering of skin with hair follicles, sebaceous glands, and sweat glands. Internally is a mucous membrane (mucosa) composed of stratified squamous non keratinizing epithelium lying upon a connective tissue lamina propria with high papillae Slide 91: Mixed gland; majority of the acini are mucous, some with serous demilunes.
