Slide 3:

“… in a way that pleases God?” The part of that question

Slide 4:

How does God react to sin in the world? 2. How should I react to those same sins in the world? 3. How should I react to all the sin that I can’t do anything about? We really need to answer these 3 questions:

Slide 5:

How does God react to sin in the world? Gen 6:5-7 - The Lord saw how great man's wickedness on the earth had become, and that every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil all the time. The Lord was grieved that he had made man on the earth, and his heart was filled with pain. So the Lord said, "I will wipe mankind, whom I have created, from the face of the earth … for I am grieved that I have made them." Ezek 18:20 - The person who sins will die.…the wicked-ness of the wicked will be upon himself. Isa 53:5-6 - But He was pierced through for our trans-gressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the chas-tening for our well-being fell upon Him, and by His scourging we are healed. All of us like sheep have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; but the Lord has caused the iniquity of us all to fall on Him Isa 13:11-13 - I will punish the world for its evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; I will also put an end to the arrogance of the proud, and abase the haughtiness of the ruthless…I shall make the heavens tremble, and the earth will be shaken from its place. At the fury of the Lord of hosts in the day of His burning anger. Zech 8:17 - Let none of you devise evil in your heart against another, and do not love perjury; for all these are what I hate,' declares the Lord. 2 Thess 1:7-9 - …the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with His mighty angels in flaming fire, dealing out retribution to those who do not know God and to those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. And these will pay the penalty of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power. Heb 9:15,22 - Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance-now that he has died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant…without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.

Slide 6:

How should I react to those same sins in the world? Ps 97:10 - Let those who love the Lord hate evil Ps 119:104 - From your precepts I get understanding; therefore I hate every false way. Ps 139:21-22 - Do I not hate those who hate you, O Lord, and abhor those who rise up against you? I have nothing but hatred for them; I count them my enemies. Prov 8:13 - To fear the Lord is to hate evil; I hate pride and arrogance, evil behavior and perverse speech Prov 13:5 - The righteous hate what is false. Amos 5:15 - Hate evil, love good; maintain justice in the courts. Perhaps the Lord God Almighty will have mercy on the remnant of Joseph. Rom 12:9 - Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Rev 2:6 – [Ephesus]…you have this in your favor: you hate the practices of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate Matt 5:14-16 - You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven. Eph 5:8-12 - You were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) and find out what pleases the Lord. Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. For it is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret. 2 Tim 4:2-3 - Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage-with great patience and careful instruction. For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Rom 10:13-15 - Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is writ-ten, "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!" Eph 6:11-18 - Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In ad-dition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.

Slide 8:

How Should I react to all the sin that I can’t do anything about? 1 Cor 5:9-11 - I wrote you in my letter not to asso-ciate with immoral people; I did not at all mean with the immoral people of this world, or with the cove-tous and swindlers, or with idolaters; for then you would have to go out of the world. But actually, I wrote to you not to associate with any so-called brother if he should be an immoral person, or cove-tous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or a swindler — not even to eat with such a one. James 4:4-5 - You adulterous people, don't you know that friendship with the world is hatred toward God? Anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God. Or do you think Scripture says without reason that the spirit he caused to live in us envies intensely? Rom 13:12-14 - The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light. Let us behave decent-ly, as in the daytime, not in orgies and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and debauchery, not in dissension and jealousy. Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the sinful nature. 1 Cor 15:33-34 - Do not be misled: "Bad company corrupts good character." Come back to your senses as you ought, and stop sinning; 2 Cor 6:14-17 - Do not be bound together with un-believers; for what partnership have righteousness and lawlessness, or what fellowship has light with dark-ness? Or what harmony has Christ with Belial, or what has a believer in common with an unbeliever? Or what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For we are the temple of the living God; just as God said… "come out from their midst and be separate," says the Lord. "And do not touch what is unclean; And I will welcome you.”
