Family Health History : Family Health History After studying my family tree, and asking my parents, I found that my grandmother on my father’s side had breast cancer. Sleeping: I feel that I do not use any of these tools at all during the school week because I have so much homework. I only really use the computer but that is for studying. My mom is very caring, smart, and is always there for me. My mom is so important to me because she loves me even if I do something wrong and always guides me in the right direction. I see myself still living at my parents house because I will still be in high school but I will be able to drive!!!! In 5 years I see myself at college in a dorm at UCSB. In 10 years I see myself owning my own apartment/house somewhere in California and I will be dating/married. If I can accomplish just one thing in my life it would be being a happily married, successful veterinarian. Slide 45: Media awareness Personally, I get influenced by the media a lot, even if I don’t notice it. Just from watching television and reading magazines I feel myself becoming more and more sucked into the media and wanting to have the “perfect body.” Even though I try to fight it and do not want to be pulled in I still notice that I find it harder to watch someone on TV that is not very skinny. It’s amazing and just so wrong that the media can influence people in this way. Because of the media, I do not wear tank tops anymore because I do not have a flat stomach. People tell me all the time that I am skinny but I never believe them because of the media. Sometimes, I am even afraid to go to the beach or swim at school or anywhere because I do not want people to see me in a bikini. Just from watching television and reading magazines I feel myself becoming more and more sucked into the media and wanting to have the “perfect body.” Even though I try to fight it and do not want to be pulled in I still notice that I find it harder to watch someone on TV that is not very skinny. It’s amazing and just so wrong that the media can influence people in this way. Because of the media, I do not wear tank tops anymore because I do not have a flat stomach. People tell me all the time that I am skinny but I never believe them because of the media.
