Do Now & Homework Do Now: When you hear of the black movement what do you think it represented and how do you think it affected blacks. Homework: Write a 1 & a half about what you learned about the black movement. SWBAT to understand the black importance of the black arts movement and the importance of black theater & music

Class Activites Today Student will read poems from black cultural renaissances of the 1930s ,1940s , and the 1950s too. For example Lorraine Hansberry, James Baldwin.

Vocabulary Black Liberation-The attempt to achieve equal rights or status. Revolutionary Movement- Is a specific movement to carrying out a revolution. Black Arts Movement- Is the artistic branch of the branch of the black power movement. Black Nationalist- Advocates racial definition of blacks national identity. Commentator- A person who comments; Especially someone who is paid to give one’s opinions in the media about current affairs.
