Curriculum Vitae(CV)/Resume A CV/Resume is a self introduction to promote yourself. It is a written statement of your personal history-educational qualification, work-experience, biographical details, and other strong points that make you suitable for getting selected for a job.

Two Types of CV: : 

Two Types of CV: Chronological CV/Conventional CV: To begin with personal details and end with references. Functional CV: To begin with the category which needs to be much more emphasized.

Format of a Functional CV: : 

Format of a Functional CV: Heading: Should include your Name, address/e mail id, Tel no./Mob no. Objective: Mention a particular position that suits your educational qualification and experience. e.g. To gain employment with a company where my leadership experience and knowledge, especially in the area of thermodynamics, can be used effectively. or Looking for a challenging position of a software engineer for a leading company for advanced carrier.

Continued…….. Educational Qualification: Degree(s): First list the most recent one. Give more preference either to your degree or your Institution. Experience: Customize it with the most recent and most relevant experience to support your objective. Give job title, name, location of organization, tenure of employment.

CV Etiquettes : 

CV Etiquettes Do’s Use bulleted style for reader friendliness. Design Resume unique from others. List qualification in reverse chronological order. Quantify-Use number and percentage. List achievements, trophies , medals won. Proof read carefully. Remember to sign. Dont’s Limit CV to two pages. Never lie on CV. Don’t use personal pronouns. Avoid writing excessive experiences. Never include height and weight. Avoid negative words that may frustrate the employer. Don’t mention the reasons why you left the last employment.
