The Prophecy of Three Witches

Slide 3: 

King Duncan's generals, Macbeth and Banquo, encounter three witches on their way home from quelling a rebellion. The witches prophesy that Macbeth will be given the title of Thane of Cawdor and then become King of Scotland. Then turning to Banquo and says his heirs shall be kings, then they disappear. While they stand and think on these strange things, there arrived messengers from the Duncan, he pronounces Macbeth Thane of Cawdor in thanks for his success in the recent battles and then proposes that King Duncan will make a brief visit to Macbeth's castle.

Slide 5: 

Lady Macbeth receives news from her husband of the prophecy and his new title; therefore, she vows to help Macbeth become king by any means she can. Few days later, Duncan arrives and decides to stay overnight. At that night, the Macbeths plot together and kill the King and his guards. Lady Macbeth leaves the bloody daggers beside the guards and dead king. The proofs of murder against the guards are sufficiently strong. Fortunately, Duncan’s two sons, Malcolm and Donalbain flee in this murder. The throne is empty; thus Macbeth is elected King of Scotland. The prophecy of the witches is exactly fulfilled.

Banquo’s Murder and His Ghost

Slide 7: 

Though placed so high, the Macbeths can not forget the other prophecy and plagued by feelings of guilt and insecurity; thus Macbeth arranges for Banquo and his son, Fleance to be killed. Banquo is murdered, but Fleance escapes the murderers. At a celebratory banquet, Macbeth sees the ghost of Banquo and disconcerts the courtiers with his strange manner. He addressed some mad words which full of meaning. Lady Macbeth tries to calm him for fearing the dreadful secret is discovered, Therefore, she sent away the guests in a great haste. The Macbeth frequently sleep broken with terrible dreams which made them no peace; therefore, Macbeth determines to seek out the witches again.

The Witches and Murder Again Macbeth seeks out the witches and learns from them that he will be safe until Birnam Wood comes to his castle, Dunsinane. They tell him that none of woman born have power to hurt him and the Scottish succession will come from Banquo's son. From this time the thoughts of Macbeth were all bloody and dreadful.

After he backs to his castle, he heard that Macduff, the lord of Fife, fled to England and joined the army which forming against him under Malcolm. Macbeth stung with anger and killed his family and all his kinsmen. This murder turns the minds of all his chief nobles against him. Everybody hates him and thoughts him a murderer. No body loves or honors him anymore.

Slide 10: 

The Suicide of Lady Macbeth Due to Lady Macbeth unable to bear the bitter shame of her wickedness and public hate, she often walks in her sleep then gives away her secrets to a listening doctor. Thus she kills herself and leaves Macbeth alone.

Slide 11: 

The hollow promises of the witches filled Macbeth with a false hope. He feels safe in his castle at Dunsinane until he is told that Birnam Wood is moving towards him. The situation is that Malcolm's army is carrying branches from the forest as camouflage for their assault on the castle. A severe fight take place soon, Macduff challenges Macbeth. When Macbeth know Macduff is the child of a Caesarian birth, he realizes he is doomed. At the result of this fighting, Macduff triumphs and brings the head of the Macbeth to lawful king, Malcolm. Later, Malcolm set himself upon the throne of Duncan amid the joyful cries of the nobles and the people. The End
