HATHIAN POLICE DEPARTMENTTRAINING PROGRAM - 2010 Revised 23 February 2010

Hathian Police DepartmentTraining Program - 2010 :

Hathian Police DepartmentTraining Program - 2010 In response to recent reports of excessive force by HPD Officers, it was decided that a streamlined and standardised training program be implemented; this training program will initially run as a trial throughout the month of March with the possibility of running into April, and will at first teach Operational Safety and Tactics, which centres primarily around Use of Force and weapons. Depending on the success of the initial trial, further modules may be offered. These will include negotiation, suicide intervention, arrest procedures, and various other skills that may be required in the course of duty. Introduction

Hathian Police DepartmentTraining Program - 2010 :

Hathian Police DepartmentTraining Program - 2010 The initial training program will run of a course of four weeks, with each session lasting approximately two hours and covering off on one or two weapons used in HPD Officers’ day-to-day duties, including; Extendable Batons (ASP) OC Spray (Pepper Spray) Handcuffs and unarmed Firearms A further two hour session will also be scheduled two weeks after completion of training to assess officer’s skill development. Given the range in experience within the HPD, all training will be offered supplementary to officer’s pre-existing skills and will therefore be optional. Wherever possible, training sessions will be offered twice per week to maximise their availability to officers. Initial Training
