Company history Founded in 1802 by E.I DuPont Between 1802 and 1880, black powder was the sole product manufactured at DuPont.(a combination of sulpher,pottassiam nitrate and charcoal) 1880 Dupont enter into dynamite business. By the 1920’s, Dupont become the worlds largest producer of dynamite In 1930’s , Dupont started manufacturing freon which is developed by two GM scientist During 1970’s Dupont start producing healthcare products 1989 DuPont researchers had filed 20 patents for non-CFC refrigerants In 1996 started business with Dow Elastomers as a joint venture New polymer platform 2000 Now Dupont has four Teflon plant in world wide (China- Changshu, Netherlands, Japan, and at DuPont Washington Works near Parkersburg) 3

Issues & cases : 

Issues & cases June 1999 the Tennant family sued DuPont for accidentally killing 280 Hereford cows with C-8, an alleged animal carcinogen 5

Cont…. The local drinking water was also contaminated with high percentage of C-8. Up to 50,000 residents of the Mid-Ohio Valley started a class-action lawsuit against DuPont. 6
