To the Rescue :

To the Rescue “Amidst the storms of life, danger lurks; and men, like boats, find themselves stranded and facing destruction. Who will man the lifeboats, leaving behind the comforts of home and family, and go to the rescue?” Thomas S. Monson Ensign, May 2001

To the Rescue :

To the Rescue Two fundamental reasons why those who are lost come back. “First, men have been shown their eternal possibilities and have made the decision to achieve them. Men cannot really long rest content with mediocrity once they see excellence is within their reach.” “Second, other men have followed the admonition of the Savior and have loved their neighbors as themselves and helped to bring their neighbors’ dreams to fulfillment and their ambitions to realization.” “The catalyst in this process has been—and will continue to be—the principle of love.” Thomas S. Monson Ensign, May 2001

To the Rescue :

To the Rescue “In a very real sense, those persons stranded on the vessel which had run aground in the storm-tossed sea are like many young men—and older men as well—who await rescue by those of us who have the priesthood responsibility to man the lifeboats. Their hearts yearn for help. Mothers and fathers pray for their sons. Wives and children plead to heaven that Daddy and others may be reached. Tonight I pray that all of us who hold the priesthood may sense our responsibilities and, as one, follow our Leader—even the Lord Jesus Christ, and His prophet, President Gordon B. Hinckley—to the rescue.” Thomas S. Monson Ensign, May 2001

Slide 6:

HOW CAN THIS BE DONE?

Jacob 1:19 :

Jacob 1:19 And we did magnify our office unto the Lord, taking upon us the responsibility, answering the sins of the people upon our own heads if we did not teach them the word of God with all diligence; wherefore, by laboring with our might their blood might not come upon our garments; otherwise their blood would come upon our garments, and we would not be found spotless at the last day.

WARD MISSION PROCESS :

WARD MISSION PROCESS How have you been successful in obtaining Ward Mission Plans? This plan should include names – and Organization actions. The High Priests, Elders, and Relief Society are each to select 5 people on which to focus their efforts. The MLS can assist you in identifying the less-active, part member families, etc.

Slide 10:

Example

WARD MISSION PROCESS :

WARD MISSION PROCESS One of the very effective teaching techniques is to find a simple question that can be asked repeatedly to which the members of the Ward Council are conditioned to respond. For example: “What would Heavenly Father have me/us do to bring _____________ Unto Christ?”

WARD MISSION PROCESS :

WARD MISSION PROCESS It is always good to demonstrate to the members of your Ward Mission how to respond when inviting the less-active or non-member. Again, a question may help: “Would you allow the full-time missionaries to teach the gospel of Jesus Christ in your home?”

WARD MISSION PROCESS :

WARD MISSION PROCESS Why is keeping a teaching record of visits so important? This record can be ordered through distribution.

To the Rescue :

To the Rescue “The Lord expects our thinking. He expects our action. He expects our labors. He expects our testimonies. He expects our devotion. Unfortunately, there are those who have departed from the track of priesthood activity. Let us help them back to that path that leads to life eternal. Let us build that strong Melchizedek Priesthood base which will be the foundation of Church activity and growth. It will be the underpinning to strengthen every family, every home, every quorum in every land.” Thomas S. Monson Ensign, May 2001

To the Rescue :

To the Rescue ”Brethren, we can reach out to those for whom we are responsible and bring them to the table of the Lord, there to feast on His word and to enjoy the companionship of His Spirit and be “no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God.” Thomas S. Monson Ensign, May 2001
