RYLA : 

RYLA To encourage and assist youth leaders and potential leaders in methods of responsible and effective leadership by providing them with a training experience. To encourage continued and stronger leadership of youth by youth To publicly recognize the outstanding qualities of many young people who are rendering service to their schools and communities as leaders This year three of our board members were sent to RYLA to improve their capabilities in leadership.

Interact Club Members serve food and do kitchen clean up Collaboration of Caring Communities Meeting Needs Better by Working Together. Our mission is to provide a focus for area churches and human-service agencies to optimize services and resources for people in need.

Interact Club Members volunteer at KDUR. Mission Statement KDUR, volunteer-powered community radio, creates a bridge between Fort Lewis College and La Plata County, offering diverse music, alternative news, and local public affairs programming. KDUR provides educational and training opportunities in a professional setting for Fort Lewis College students and community members.

Our club exists to inspire and empower others to find a way to help eradicate poverty. The goal is to work on strategic and sustainable projects in the developing world. Our 2010 mission is Jamaica.

The projects create an actionable plan that includes all members of the community. Community Development Gender Equality Projects that empower women through financial management, health and leadership training, allowing the women to play a significant role in the development of their community. Water & Sanitation Projects that empower communities to build sustainable sources of clean water and appropriate sanitation.

Creating lasting change! Projects are intended to shift the entire system in a lasting way – reducing poverty. Not just a temporary band-aid Approach To tackle the problem of poverty in all aspects. By coordinating efforts with the Peace Corp already established in Jamaica allows us to be most effective.

Interact in Jamaica While in Jamaica we will be working on.. Sign and bus stop for Port Maria’s Hospital Painting and general improvement of and school or clinic Planting or upkeep of a community garden or any other such area Working in an old folks home Playing board games with underprivileged kids, and teaching them There are also 2-3 student that have extensive training in dance so a 2 day dance workshop given to a an under deserved group of no more than 30 kids or adults) that could culminate in a last night presentation. This may take place while others are doing other projects. The 6th day will be a time to relax at Dunn’s River Falls or Mystic Mountain, with a possibility of evening entertainment. The 7th day will be a half day of work and then relaxation time with sight seeing and shopping. All the other days will be full work days.
