Definition :

Definition -A mathematical theorem which states that the square of the length of the hypotenuse of a right triangle is equal to the sum of the squares of those of the other two other sides.

How the theorem came about :

How the theorem came about One day while drawing in the sand he found that if a square is drawn from each side of the 3-4-5 triangle, the area of the two small squares added together equals the area of the large square. So he decided to announce it as a revelation from the god Apollo, who many claimed to be his father. When he revealed this finding to his followers, he used the general terms of  a & b for the shorter legs and c for the longer side which he gave the name "hypotenuse". Thus we have the famous PYTHAGOREAN THEOREM!

Real life example :

Real life example The height of a moving truck is 4 feet. The distance from the bottom edge of a ramp on the ground to the truck is 6 feet. How long is the ramp? (4)^2 + (6)^2 = length of ramp. 16 + 36 = 52. The square root of 52 is approximately 7.2, which is the length of the ramp 4 ft. 6 ft. 7.2 ft
