The Beginning of Parkour : 

The Beginning of Parkour Parcours was fist developed as French militray training in WWI by Georges Herbert Obstacle Courses Fitness Trails Confidence Courses Utilized by French military and firefighters Raymond Belle was top in his French firefighting academy Stived on fitness and exercise Awarded many medals for his rescues Around 1997 David Belle, son of Raymond Belle, came up with Parkour as a purposeful means to stay in shape and work the body

Philosophy Traceurs take parkour as more of an art than a sport and not for competition It challenges your body both mentally and physically, to think quickly, spontaneously and out side the box in which this makes it easier to deal with mental or physical obstacles in life. Injuries : 

Injuries As parkour continues to gain popularity in the United States and around the world physicians/physical therapists will encounter more traumatic injuries Leading problem with this sport is amateurs practicing this art with no technically training and protective equipment Founder David Belle has never been injured performing parkour

Case Study 1 : 

Case Study 1 Age 18 Susatained multiple fx’s/dislocations of the left midfoot with dislocation of the 2nd digit Pt was hanging from a ledge and attempted to spin and jump to another ledge where he fell from about 3 meters He landed with the foot in a plantarflexed position with the knee in full extension and he felt multiple “cracks and pops”

Case Study 2 : 

Case Study 2 Age 13 years old Closed displaced fx of his distal tibia Attempted to jump over a gap between two walls onto a ledge on an urban building. He overshot the ledge and fell onto his extended left leg in heel strike. Under went urgent closed reduction and application of a cast D/C 2 days later

Case Study 3 : 

Case Study 3 Age 15 years old Fractured mid-shaft right clavicle, multiple bilateral distal radial fractures Following a fall from a height of 2 meters onto the outstretched hands during a failed attempt to traverse a metal fence bar. Direct blow to the shoulder tip that occurred during failed roll These fx’s were treated with closed reduction, kirschener wire insertion, cast and arm sling for clavicle
