Safer Herefordshire (formerly Herefordshire Community Safety and Drugs Partnership) is a multi agency partnership. Our vision is to make Herefordshire an even safer place to live work and visit. Current priorities include: Reducing Anti Social Behaviour Reducing Alcohol Related Harm Reducing Drug Related Harm Offender Management including Domestic Abuse Reassurance Road Safety

Working together to make Herefordshire an even safer place to live, work and visit Key Successes: Comprehensive Review of the Adult Drug Treatment Services in Herefordshire. The report will be complete by Christmas. Multi Agency Tasking and Co-ordination (MATAC) group tackling crime and disorder. The Voice! magazine produced by Herefordshire’s Users and Carers, for Users and Carers. Successful Needle Exchange Project 5 pharmacies, 3 community hospitals and DASH giving out safe, clean needles and syringes.

Working together to make Herefordshire an even safer place to live, work and visit Herefordshire Specialist Domestic Violence Court (SDVC) Herefordshire received accreditation during October 2009. Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conference (MARAC) commenced in May 2009. Hidden Harm Strategy seminars, safeguarding children who are living with substance misusing parents/carers. CCTV, the new contract provides extra hours that covers dispersal after the pubs and night clubs close, which it didn’t before.

Not in my neighbourhood Week, a national campaign informing the community on the work being done to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour in their area. The Effect of the Downturn : 

The Effect of the Downturn Unemployment increased Business closures, reduced hours Debt, homelessness and pressure on communities Public sector income reductions Business and employee insecurity and lack of confidence Difficulty finding funding for business development

The Approach – Direct Financial Support : 

The Approach – Direct Financial Support Business Booster grants to help businesses develop Training Voucher scheme to improve skills in companies Support creation of jobs through the Future Jobs Fund Tourism package development to bring in more tourists RBG and REG grant support

The difference…. 9 Business Booster grants awarded Anticipate 14 jobs to be created 16 training voucher grants awarded Benefiting 72 people Future Jobs fund to bring 74 people back into work. RBG funded 38 Herefordshire businesses to tune of £1m 314 jobs created at cost of £3,289 each £7m private leverage REG funded 13 Herefordshire businesses to tune of £330k Anticipated to create 40 jobs at cost of £8,500 each £510k private leverage

The difference…. Information on support readily available through Group members E-newsletter sent to 340+ businesses every other month.

Promotes good news stories, funding and information events, grant scheme bidding rounds etc. 40 businesses attended first 2 IT roadshows. 25 businesses attended procurement event, 245 local businesses signed up to procurement portal.

The Approach – Indirect Support Improved payment times by Council to help business cashflow Facilitation of better broadband in rural areas to help internet marketing Freezing S106 contribution for development of business premises

The difference…. Council now making immediate payment of invoices. Pursuing several avenues for funding community broadband. Broadband mentioned as key essential infrastructure in LDF. Council positioning paper being considered. S106 impact still being assessed.

The Future…. : 

The Future…. Continue management of REG scheme Examining potential for extension of Business Booster and Training Voucher 6 more VAT registration roadshows Continuing with wider capital schemes Aiming to improve linkages with other Partnership groups.
