STEP 4: Testing the new materials in class. Some advice… Don’t rely on your Internet connection. It’s better to download all the materials beforehand. Useful tools

Slide 20:

To download videos: Savevid.com Keepvid.com Real media catcher There’s no need to convert them. You can play them as flv files with any flv players which you can keep in your pendrive. But if you want to, Super© is a great software tool.

Slide 42:

How to do it?: Embed your video file onto your post as html. Upload your worksheets onto Google Sites or any other “virtual drives”. Set a link to your worksheets so that they can be downloaded by clicking on a particular word, picture, etc.

Slide 49:

STEP 6: Tagging. It is important to set some clear rules of how we can tag our posts to avoid confusion: Using levels can be very useful: intermediate, etc. Or Common European Framework scales: A2, B1… Topics are always helpful. What kind of activity is it? Any special features (AmE, culture, etc.)?

Slide 52:

This is what it should look like…

Slide 54:

Blogging as a sharing tool in TEFL. PART 3: Managing your materials.

Slide 55:

STEP 1: Overview of any available materials (using tags).

Slide 57:

Adding a search engine as a gadget can be very useful when your blog includes many entries.

Slide 58:

STEP 2: Choosing what can be useful for you.

Slide 59:

STEP 3: Doing modifications/adaptations if needed.

Slide 60:

STEP 4: Using the materials in class.

Slide 61:

STEP 5: Posting assessment as a comment in the blog. Adding any modifications to it if they somehow improve the original.

Slide 62:

Blogging as a sharing tool in TEFL. PART 4: Let your virtual resource chest grow with time. (just needs some watering!)

Slide 63:

Blogging as a sharing tool in TEFL. ANNEX 1: Possible problems we will have to face.

Slide 64:

Foreseeable problems: Lack of time. Broken links. Teachers’ lack of motivation. Blog is “forgotten” after some time. If activities become very popular, we won’t know if our students have already done them.
