Battle at Bunker Hill :
Battle at Bunker Hill Patriots took position overlooking Boston on the top of hills
Carrying packs the British marched uphill into the fire
The British suffered a great deal of loss the first two times up the hill
The third time they took the hill because the Patriots ran out of ammunition
Patriots’ strengths :
Patriots’ strengths Washington’s leadership- lost many battles, but retreated when needed
Committed army- small numbers, but very loyal
Home land- They fought battles on territory that they knew

At first France thought that the American’s were fighting a lossing battle
After Saratoga they opened their alliance
Saratoga was the greatest American victory

The War Ends :
The War Ends Washington marched into Yorktown, Virginia to trap the British
The French blocked the British navy
Trapped the British surrendered at Yorktown
The British lost 8,000 soldiers and crushed the British army
Treaty of Paris :
Treaty of Paris After seven years of fighting it was over
The Treaty of Paris was signed- give American independence and granted generous boundaries to the US
Made separate peace from the French and made the French angry
Impact on women and African Americans :

Women did begin to speak out more in public affairs
Revolutionary war inspired many slaves to demand freedom
Soon after the north emancipated their slaves
