70 American soldiers, ages 18 to 41, die from hostile fire in Afghanistan. August 29 – October 18

October 19, 2009 :

October 19, 2009 The United States cannot wait for problems surrounding the legitimacy of the Afghan government to be resolved before making a decision on troops. - U.S. Secretary of Defense Robert Gates

October 20, 2009 :

October 20, 2009 President Obama has still not yet determined whether he will make a decision on sending more troops to Afghanistan before the November 7 election runoff. No decision, however, is a decision with consequences.  70 U.S. soldiers have died from hostile fire since the August 29, 2009 request from General McChrystal  our troops have been demoralized,  the Taliban has been emboldened. The Taliban, watching the President’s inaction is probably thinking, “if the President is not going to do anything, this is our shot … let’s make things so bloody, we’ll run the Americans out.”

Sergeant Christopher Hughes, 37, from Detroit, has lost six colleagues and survived two roadside bombs. Asked if the mission was worthwhile, he replied: “If I knew exactly what the mission was, probably so, but I don’t.” The only soldiers who thought it was going well “work in an office, not on the ground”. In his opinion “the whole country is going to s***”.click here for article :

“We’re lost — that’s how I feel. I’m not exactly sure why we’re here,” said Specialist Raquime Mercer, 20, whose closest friend was shot dead by a renegade Afghan policeman last Friday. “I need a clear-cut purpose if I’m going to get hurt out here or if I’m going to die.” click here for article :

President Obama:Please bring our troops home or send them help. Don’t leave them there like sitting ducks. The United States of America is at war. A war against terrorists. With American families putting their lives and hearts on the line for us daily, a decision is required.Partying, vacationing, petitioning the Olympics board, making your rounds in the media, and whining about people who disagree with you but love America … all of this is optional. If you are in a war, do what’s necessary to win or get out.BE A COMMANDER IN CHIEF - MAKE A DECISION. :
