Scout Moves South :Scout Moves South After their friendly tussle, Scout told Beau about his life in Chicago. He had lived in a small townhouse with no yard and his owners worked hard. Most of the day he spent in a kennel in the townhouse and was always very excited when his owners came home.

Scout Moves South :Scout Moves South The two, new friends spent a little more time together in the field where Beau showed Scout the best places to dig holes.

Scout Moves South :Scout Moves South The Horses from across the road had watched the two new friends all day. They thought they got along well and that Scout liked his new home.


Scout Moves South :Scout Moves South Scout looked out from his porch at Beau as he made his way all the way home. His first day and he had found a new friend and played hard in the country. He was becoming what he really was: a dog living a dog’s life.


Scout Moves South :Scout Moves South The next day Beau introduced Scout to his mom, Lady, who was not the friendliest because she was old and didn’t like them trying to get her to play.

Scout Moves South :Scout Moves South When a dog from the other side of the road tried to come over, Lady and Beau showed Scout how to be alert and protect my land. That Bad Dog, as he was known, saw all three of us together and he turned and ran away.


Scout Moves South :Scout Moves South Lady told us that protecting our territory for our master’s was our main job. It kept them and you safe. It was what country dogs did.


Scout Moves South :Scout Moves South Scout and Beau talked about that, but they weren’t sure what she meant. They just wanted to play and have fun. They guessed it was something they would know when it was time to know it.


Scout Moves South :Scout Moves South So that’s what they did. Before Beau knew what was happening, Scout had him down.


Scout Moves South :Scout Moves South Scout’s memory of his family from Chicago was fading but he would always remember some part of that life. But they knew he was a country dog at heart and let him go even though they would miss him.


Scout Moves South :Scout Moves South Lady said that Scout would always remember his old family, but that Scout’s new family will care for him and his job is to care for them. And that all of them were part of his new pack.
