Want to evolve so the WBA has the highest ratio of coverage to scholarly value possible
Begin with a backbone and build out from there

Phase 1: Searchable SGML-encoded archive, acquire major works required for base of collection, place in archive, fully marked and public, at least one copy of each illuminated book
Phase 2: multiple copies of each book, from different printings or with significant differences
Include copies never before reproduced or poorly reproduced
“Fundamental Unit” :“Fundamental Unit” Emphasize the physical object over the logical textual unit
This fundamental emphasis supports both their archival and editorial objectives
WBA Selection Criteria :WBA Selection Criteria Began with illuminated books
Expand from the core collection
Prioritize according to clusters
I.e. Medium, subject, theme
Include all typographical materials due to rarity and uniqueness
Selection Priorities :Selection Priorities 1a: Large clusters of significant works
1b: Individual works that relate to the illuminated books
2a: Works in subcategories with a large and representative sample
2b: Entirety of original and reproductive prints
3: Manuscripts and typographic work

Color-corrected images in JPEG, ISO/IEC 10918
Inline images of 100 dpi and enlargements of 300 dpi
