Parent Volunteers If you would like to be a volunteer in our classroom you must: Go to www.oregonsd.org Click on Community Education Click on Volunteering in Our Schools Click on the link to fill out on-line volunteer application. You must be on the approved list before you can start volunteering. If you would like a paper application, please let a teacher know! We have paper applications here tonight!

We’re going to be discussing the skills and strategies you can use for reading with your child. : 

We’re going to be discussing the skills and strategies you can use for reading with your child. Whatever level your child is at it’s important to have fun! Choose a comfortable place to sit, without siblings, and cuddle up.

Never do for kids what they can do for themselves! Child holds the book Child turns the pages Child points or helps point to words Keep the joy in reading - don’t make it a chore you do every night. Also model it yourself. Please remember… Reading is developmental

Watch your child as a reader. Use the Reading Strategy Sheet as a guide. Wait time is the hardest thing to do! Smile at them ( a lot!) …wait-wait-wait… Then say, “Did you check the picture?” …wait some more…. What Do I Do When They Get Stuck?
