### Writing Numbers :

Writing Numbers Numbers can be written in several forms – word, standard, and expanded form. You can also write them in place value form.

### Word Form :

Word Form Numbers written in word form will look like this: 1 = one 2 = two 3 = three 4 = four 5 = five 6 = six 7 = seven 8 = eight 9 = nine 10 = ten

### Standard Form :

Standard Form Numbers written in standard form is what you are most accustomed to seeing. Standard form is the number written as a number: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 ….

### Expanded Form :

Expanded Form Expanded form uses the numbers individual place values and addition. A number written in expanded form will look like this: 12 = 10 + 2 123 = 100 + 20 + 3 1, 234 = 1,000 + 200 + 30 + 4 12,345 = 10,000 + 2,000 + 300 + 40 + 5 123,456 = 100,000 + 20,000 + 3,000 + 400 + 50 + 6 1,234,567 = 1,000,000 + 200,000 + 30,000 + 4,000 + 500 + 60 + 7

### Place Value Form :

Place Value Form A number written in place value form also uses the individual number’s place and the name of the place. A number written in place value form will look like this: 12 = one ten, two ones 123 = one hundred, two tens, three ones 1,234 = one thousand, two hundreds, three tens, four ones 12,345 = one ten-thousand, two thousands, three hundreds, four tens, five ones 123,456 = one hundred-thousand, two ten-thousands, three thousands, four hundreds, five tens, six ones 1,234,567 = one million, two hundred-thousand, three ten-thousand, four thousands, five hundreds, six tens, seven ones
